Mr. Willie Peoples, Jr. LAMAR-Funeral services for Mr. Willie Peoples, Jr. will be held Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 3:00pm at the Church of God in Lamar directed by Hines Funeral Home of Lamar. Burial with military honors will follow Lamar Church of God Cemetery. Reverend Derrick Lloyd will officiate the services. On Saturday, June 15, 2013, the soul of Willie Peoples, Jr. departed this earthly life at Pee Dee Gardens after an illness. Willie was born on March 14, 1930, a loving son of the late Willie and Mary Mack Peoples, Sr. He was a graduate of the Spaulding High School Class of 1947. Immediately following high school, he relocated to New York and began a lucrative job as a Welder, until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1951, during the Korean Conflict. After serving his enlisted time of two years in the United States Army, he re-enlisted in the United States Air Force and continued to honorably serve his country until his retirement in 1973, after 22 years of service. Not long after he enlisted in the Air Force, Willie met and married the love of his life, the late Elizabeth Jackson and to this union was born six beautiful children. This union was blessed with 42 wonderful years, until her death on August 27, 2000. After being honorably discharged, he continued his education at Florence-Darlington Technical College, receiving two Associate's Degrees in Occupational Technology Climate Control and Industrial Technology in Tool and Die. It was at Florence-Darlington Technical College that Willie trained as a machinist. While in school, he was employed at Florence Electro Motive Manufacturing Company as Machinist. After receiving his first degree, he became employed with General Electric as a Machinist, and continued working there until his retirement in 1996. Willie attended the Lamar Church of God most of his adult life. He enjoyed the time spent with his church family. He was also a member of Prince Hall Masons of Lompoc, California. He loved to watch sports and the news, so he could keep up with current events. In his spare time, he liked to do handy work around the house. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Those who knew and loved him will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Willie and Mary Peoples, Sr.; his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Peoples; his brother, Ulysees Peoples. Surviving to cherish the memory and maintain the legacy of Willie Peoples, Jr. is his two sons, Timothy Peoples of Alexandria, VA and Stanley Peoples of Brooklyn, NY; four daughters, Willietta (Cornelius) Aaron of Charlotte, NC, Annette (Carlos) Moreira of Brooklyn, NY, Elaine Carolina of Effingham, SC, and Sylvia Peoples of Florence, SC; nine grandchildren, Saladeem Crumpler, Shawn Strickland, Rashan Aaron, Timothy Peoples, II, Kenneth Harris, Isiah Carolina, Tasheena Aaron, Samantha Fagan, and Aliyah Harris; 5 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Lonnie Jackson of New York, NY; two sisters-in-law, Christine (Ralph) Gooden of Florence, SC and Ethel Mae Peoples of Washington, DC, and a host of other relatives and very dear friends.
