Wilbur Grey "Buck" Jamison (Major, United States Army Retired), 91, of Richmond and Charlottesville, Virginia, died peacefully on Saturday, December 8, 2012, of congestive heart failure.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Effie Nicholson Jamison; daughter, Yvonne Alger; son, Danny Jamison; sister, Geraldine "Jerry" Eicher; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Buck served in the United States Army during World War II with the 79th Infantry Division and participated in the Normandy Invasion and other major battles. He also served in the 3rd Infantry Division during the Korean War. Buck retired from the Army in 1965 and worked as an insurance adjuster and regional claims manager. He championed the causes of all veterans while serving in elected positions of the Richmond Area Chapter of the Military Officers Association.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road. (Rte. 10), N. Chesterfield, VA 23234, with his funeral service to be held at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, Virginia, with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Providence United Methodist Church, 902 S. Providence Road, Richmond, VA 23236.
