William Jon Lowthian was born in Duncan, Arizona on November 4, 1935. He grew up around and graduated from West High School, marrying his high school sweetheart Mary Lou, who preceded him in death. After school Bill served his country in the Marine Corps, and after completing his service re-enlisted in the Navy.
