Michael Roy Obituary

Michael Armand Roy, 64, passed peacefully on August 27, 2013 at his home in North Attleboro surrounded by his loving children where he had been a resident for the last seven years.

He was born in Attleboro on April 19, 1949 to Elizabeth L. (Veins) of Plainville and the late Armand W. Roy.

Mike moved to Plainville in 1959 and attended Plainville Elementary School and later graduated from King Philip Regional High School with the Class of 1967.

In Mike's teenage years he was the lead singer in the popular local North Attleboro band "The Rogues" and later "The Fibers", playing area high schools, the North Hop and statewide battles of the bands. Mike enlisted with the U.S. Marine Corps in June of 1968 and proudly served his country as a member of the 8th Engineer Battalion. He fought in Vietnam and returned home in January of 1970 with an honorable discharge. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal twice along with the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal and the Vietnamese Campaign Medal. Mike owned an extensive collection of Marine T-shirts which he wore with great pride. He was a partner in the family businesses, Royal Hinge and Die and Prestige Packaging which had been establishes by his father. Mike went on to work as a tool maker at Craft Manufacturing in Attleboro and recently retired from Fuller Packaging of Central Falls, RI. He leaves behind his beloved children: Matthew Roy of Manassas, VA, Joshua and his wife Kimberly of Bristol, RI, Michelle Roy of Johns Creek, GA and Richard Roy of Warren, RI; also seven very special and precious grandchildren: Cassidy, Joshua P. and Chloe Roy of Bristol, RI, Elizabeth and Benjamin Roy of Manassas, VA, Orien Roy of Johns Creek, GA and Mason Bryan of Bristol, RI; his siblings: Denise B. Roy of Benton, NH, Elizabeth A. Roy of Plainville, Jeffrey E. Roy of Wrentham, Timothy A. and his wife Martha Roy of Plainville and Richard R. Roy of Plainville as well as many nieces and nephews. At his request, burial with military honors will be private at the family plot in Shepardville Cemetery in Plainville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you reach out to someone you love or know who smokes and encourage them to quit before it is too late.
