Richard Anthony Nailor Obituary

Richard Anthony Nailor On November 16th Capt. Richard Anthony Nailor lost his fight with cancer. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 27, 1935, the only child of Earl Edward Nailor and Theresa Massaro-Nailor. A graduate of Catholic Schools he also attended Fairfield University before enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1954.

Richard had a distinguished career in the Marine Corps and was a founding member of the Marine Corps Mustang Association. He retired in 1974 as a Captain (LDO) at which time he began a second career providing engineering services with Potomac Research International retiring in 1998 as the company CEO. He was frequently carried in the Marquis "Book of Who's Who" and was a long time member of the IEEE. Richard is survived by his wife of 52 years Sandra Grace Nailor, Leesburg, Fl., his son Richard Nailor of Smith Mountain Lake, VA., his daughter Michele Scott and her Husband Benjamin of Catlett, VA., his son Keith Nailor and his wife Patti of Goldvein, VA., seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held at the National Museum of the Marine Corps Chapel followed by the Graveside service on the 4th of January beginning at 11:30 AM at Quantico, VA. There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony held at the Clubs of Quantico following the funeral services. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his name to The National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, VA.
