Richard Jerome Soltis Jr. Obituary

June 25, 1989 – May 19, 2013

LCPL.Richard Jerome Soltis, Jr., 23, of College Station, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 29, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Hillier Funeral Home, and interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Houston National Cemetery – The VA National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.

Ricky was born on June 25, 1989 in College Station to Richard J. Soltis, Sr. and Cynthia (Rambo) Soltis. He graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in 2007. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on June 12, 2007, and served in Afghanistan from October 2009 until April 2010. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Lance Corporal at Camp Lejeune in N.C. on March 31, 2011.

A history buff, Ricky enjoyed reading about military history. He also loved going fishing with his friends. His daughter Maddy was the greatest joy of his life and he enjoyed spending time with her. His family and friends were always very important to him, and he will be deeply missed by his U.S.M.C. "Eternal Brothers."

Ricky is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Danny Soltis and "Tex" Rambo; and his sister, Kristin Nicole Soltis.

He leaves behind his mother, Cindy Soltis of College Station; his father, Richard J. Soltis, Sr. and wife Kelle of College Station; the love of his life, Kyla M. Soltis Adams, her son Tyler and their daughter, Madison Nicole Soltis of Bryan; stepsisters, Brandee Kerr, Keith and Kala Thomas; grandparents, Margie Edlin and Alice Soltis of College Station; aunts and uncles, Leroy and Melissa Rocha, John Rambo, Richard and Gina Neuendorff, Cathy Dellolio; cousins, J.D. Rocha, Sydney Neuendorff, Kevin and Ashley Dellolio and children.
