Ron Fleig, Sr. was born December 3, 1952, to Richard and Charlene Fleig in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. He went home to be with the Lord, from his earthly home on March 15, 2013. Ron attended Enid High School where he served as the band drum major during his junior and senior years. He graduated in 1971. He joined the United States Marine Corps in October of 1971, where he served 7 years, 6 months, and 16 days. On June 9, 1973 he married Judy Pointer. They were married for 39 years and had four children. While serving in the USMC in California, he served as an assistant pastor/music minister at Orange First Assembly of God. After moving back to Oklahoma, he served as senior pastor at Perry First Assembly of God and Calvary Temple Assembly of God in Durant, Oklahoma. In 1985, he became senior pastor at Liberal Assembly of God, later serving in Fort Scott, Kansas. In 1988, he joined the Arkansas City, Kansas Police Department, where he served the community for 12 years. During that time, he began a new ministry, New Life Fellowship, with his family and a few friends. Within a few years, the congregation grew and was able to purchase the Presbyterian Church building where the congregation still meets today. In 2000, Ron and Judy moved to Wichita, Kansas. Ron began his ministry to Calvary Assembly of God, where the congregation eventually was able to sell their old building and purchase another building more suitable to their needs. He led the congregation in Bible teaching and ministry the past 12 years. Ron was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Carol Fleig, and father-in-law, Billy Pointer. He is survived by his wife, Judy, of the home; daughter, Crystal (Franck) Djobo, and grandson, Jude; Ron, Jr., Athena and Addison, of Wichita, KS; Josh (Steffanie) Fleig, Nathan and Natalie of Ark City, KS; and Jonahtan (Samaria) Fleig of Emporia, Kansas. He is also survived by his mom and dad, Richard and Charlene Fleig; brother, Charlie, of Enid, Oklahoma; and mother-in-law, Better Pointer of Wichita. He also left behind two dogs, Sam and Koda and two grand-dogs, Mr. Bear and Duncan.Visitation will be 6:00 8:00 pm, Monday, at Calvary Assembly of God located at 430 N. High Street in Wichita.
