U.S. Navy Memorial: Remembering the life, death and legacy of Carl Amstrup

Carl Roland Amstrup, 92, of Fremont, Nebraska passed away in his sleep April 12, 2018. Carl was born Feb. 17, 1926, in Sabin, Minnesota, and grew up on a family farm near Kindred, North Dakota. Carl enlisted in the Navy as soon as he was of age, serving as radio operator during patrols of the Aleutian Islands in a Privateer (the Navy's version of the B-24 bomber).
