SKEENS, Harry B. Sr., 80, of Chester, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at his residence. He was born on July 20, 1932 to the late Samuel Jefferson and Mary Fogleman Skeens. Mr. Skeens was a United States Navy veteran, retiree of Hercules, Inc. and a member of Chester Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Skeens of Chester; sons, Harry B. Skeens Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Mechanicsville, Edmond L. Skeens and wife, Heather, of Raleigh, N.C., Gary W. Skeens and wife, Lisa, of Bristow, Va.; seven grandchildren, brother, Dale C. Skeens of Dublin, Va.; sister, Margaret Overbay of Salem, Va. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Blvd., with the Reverend Neil Wheeler officiating. Interment at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, in the Southwest Veterans Cemetery, 5552 Bagging Plant Rd., Dublin, Va. 24084. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
