HORSLEY, John Cabell, 91, of Midlothian, Va., passed away on March 18, 2013, after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jackson Horsley; his brother, Frederick M. Horsley Jr.; and his parents, Dr. Frederick Melville Horsley and Laura Boyd Horsley. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth L. Horsley; his brother, Dr. D. Boyd Horsley and his wife, Susan; cherished nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces. John was born in Schuyler, Va., on April 18, 1921. He attended and graduated St. Christopher's School and the University of Richmond, where he earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration. He subsequently completed Officer's Training School at Columbia University in NYC, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served several tours of duty during WWII. John married Mary Louise Jackson on November 23, 1946. They moved to Harrisonburg, Va., where John established a successful residential and commercial realty company and lived for 58 years. John and Mary moved to Brandermill Retirement Community in Midlothian, Va., in 2008 and lived there until shortly before his death. A memorial service will be held at noon on April 6, at Westover Episcopal Church, 6401 John Tyler Memorial Hwy., Charles City, Va. 23030.
