BROWN, Captain John Roy, USMM, was born in Johnson City, Tenn., September 14, 1945 and passed away April 18,2013 of a heart attack in Huntington W.Va. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary in 2000 and his father, J. Fred in 2005. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1966, and served in Japan and Vietnam until 1971. He then moved to Richmond and pursued a maritime career, becoming a Master Captain in the U.S. Merchant Marines. He loved riding his Harley with his veteran brothers and hunting with his antique guns. He is survived by his wife, Clara; sister Judy; nephew, Kevin; and niece, Tracy, and many cousins. A memorial service was held at the American Legion in Milton, W.Va. April 23, 2013.
