SIMMONS, Norris H., 80, of Richmond, formerly of Bridgewater, Va. passed away on May 26, 2013. He was the son of the late Wilmer and Marjorie Wheelbarger Simmons; and was preceded in death by two brothers, Garnett E. Simmons and Herschel Simmons; and a sister, Frances Neff. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Nelson Simmons; two sons, Stephen Norris Simmons and Gregory Eugene Simmons; two grandsons, Buddy Simmons and Billy Simmons, all of Richmond; several nieces and nephews. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and graduated from James Madison University class of 1961. He was a longtime member of Skipwith United Methodist Church and his hobbies were stamp and coin collecting. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 30 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Beaver Creek Cemetery in Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Skipwith United Methodist Church.
