WEILER, DR. JOHN EDWARD (JACK) 80 - of Crawfordville, FL, died Friday, December 28, 2012. Born May 6, 1932, he was originally from Egg Harbor. Jack graduated from Northwestern University School of Dentistry and served as a captain in the United States Air Force. He married Marcia Overstreet from Illinois, and he began his dental practice in St. Petersburg, Florida, where his parents and siblings had moved. Together, he and Marcia raised three children: Gregory, Julie and Gretchen. Later he completed a Master's Degree in Public Health in North Carolina, and he and Marcia eventually moved to the Milwaukee area, where they both worked in dental practice management. He and Marcia lost Gretchen and, then, Greg in the 1980's. After Marcia died in 2001, Jack returned to Florida to live close to his daughter, Julie, in the Tallahassee area. He had lived there previously, while working for the Chattahoochee State Hospital Dental Department, between living in St. Petersburg and North Carolina. He lived the final years of his life in retirement in Crawfordville, Florida, with his loyal companion, Lada, a loving little dachshund. He always had had a special feeling for dogs. Jack was a loving son, grandson, husband, father, brother and uncle. He was a good and long-time friend to many through the years, and he remained close to relatives in New Jersey, Florida and Georgia. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents (he had been especially close to his grandmother, Mabel (Billman) Waters), parents Paul Max and Violet Goldie (Waters) Weiler, brother Paul Charles Weiler, sister-in-law Patricia (Bennett) Weiler, children Greg, Julie and Gretchen Weiler, wife Marcia (Overstreet) Weiler, and niece June (McDowell) Hodson. Jack is survived by nephew Paul M. Weiler, nieces Lisa (Weiler) Hendry, Debbie Weiler, Gail (McDowell) Benjamin, Dawn (McDowell) Meredith, Lynn McDowell and Kim McDowell, cousins Roy Weiler, Bobby Weiler, and Betty (Weiler) Worthy, and sister June (Weiler) Arnold, as well as numerous other cousins, great-nephews and great-nieces in New Jersey, Georgia, and Florida. Any wishing to make a donation in Jack's memory should choose a charity they deem worthy or give to the ASPCA, as Jack loved animals.
