LOTT, Charles D.D.S., passed away peacefully at his home August 23, 2013 at the age of 95. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; and two sons, Alan Jay Lott of Richmond and Andrew David Lott of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Andy's companion and special family member, Mary Massee. He is also survived by niece, Rosalind Reichstein of Philadelphia; nephew, Ira T. Lott of Mission Viejo, Calif.; brother-in-law, Lee Rothenberg of Bradenton, Fla.; and nieces, Linda Gelfond of New York, N.Y. and Joanne Steinberg of Long Island, N.Y. Charlie was born in Norfolk, Va. and attended the Norfolk Division, William and Mary-VPI College. He graduated from the MCV School of Dentistry in 1944. From 1944 to 1947 he served as captain in the U.S. Army Dental Corps, 97th Division, in Europe, Japan and South Korea. He opened his private dental practice in Richmond in 1947. He practiced dentistry for 42 years and fully retired in 1992. He was a lifetime member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Richmond Dental Society and the McKee Study Club and took post-graduate dental courses at Ohio State University and Pennsylvania State University. He was interested in all sports, was an avid tennis player, enjoyed fishing and sailing, and among the first to start jogging in Richmond. He officiated at University of Richmond track meets for special needs children, and completed the Richmond half-marathon in 1979 and 1980. Charlie was an artist, continuing his painting after retiring. He received an award for a still life in the Jewish Community Undiscovered Artists Series and was invited to exhibit in the Virginia Watercolor Society in 1995. He was also a member of the Jack Woodson Sketch Club. Special thanks to his caregivers, Marlene, Lenora, Brenda and Marnica. Also, much appreciation to the exceptional concern and care of the staff of Medi Home and Hospice. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 29, at the Beth Ahabah Gumenick Chapel, 1117 W.
