James FOSTER Obituary

FOSTER, James Ernest "Ernie," age 70, of Quinton, Va., went to be with the Lord on January 28, 2013. Ernie was a dedicated police officer and detective for the Richmond Police Department for 25 years. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Valenti Foster; sons, Michael Ernest Foster and Daniel Sean Foster of New Kent County; devoted daughter-in-law, Lori Sue Foster; six grandchildren, Jazzmin Rae Foster, Danielle Rain Foster, Michael "Dominick" Foster, Justin Steele Foster, Abbi Dayle Foster and Landon Brock Foster; his brother, Tommy Foster Jr.; two sisters, Shirley Foster Small (Donald) and Ann Foster Stott; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and his wonderful mother-in-law who has been an amazing rock for us all, Joyce Valenti. Our family would like to give special thanks to some very devoted friends and caregivers, Gina Thompson Clark, Donald Shinn, Lori Foster, Jenny Baker King, Bridgette Foster, Christy and Jimmy Anthony during a time of need. Finally, the other love of Ernie's life, his dog "Max." In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to At Home Care Hospice, 4110 Fitzhugh Ave., Richmond, Va. 23230 or Richmond Police Foundation, 200 W. Grace St., Richmond, Va. 23220 in honor of James E. Foster. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 5270 Charles City Road, Henrico, Va. 23231. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
