Charles Franklin Jones Obituary

Charles F. Jones Charles Franklin Jones, 88, of Barboursville, and formerly of Scottsville, died on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville. He was born on January 8, 1925, in McDowell County, West Virginia, a son of the late Kelley E. and Nettie (Frye) Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie (Lane) Jones; three sisters, Alberta Baziluik, Dorothy Gravely, and Mary Fitzgerald; and a special companion, Rosa Morris. Mr. Jones was a lifelong farmer and had formerly been employed with the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority. He was a World War II Veteran, having served his country in the United States Army, for which he received the Purple Heart. He was also a member of Somerset Christian Church. Survivors include three brothers, Roy Jones of Portsmouth, Virginia, Harry Jones of Scottsville, and Paul Jones and wife, Rosalee, of Bremo Bluff; three sisters, Sadie Waters and husband, Leonard, of Haymarket, Virginia, Mildred Crank of Shipman, and Margaret Childress of Charlottesville; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends with whom he made his home, Woodrow Mouberry and wife, Barbara, of Barboursville, and their son, David Mouberry and wife, Megan and their daughter, Winter, all of Charlottesville. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home with the Reverend Jim Sanderson officiating. Interment will follow at the Scottsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013, at the funeral home.
