PEELE, David Lafayette, 90, died March 23, 2013 at Johnston-Willis Hospital. He was born in Johnston County, N.C. on March 22, 1923. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 66 years, Louise; his daughter, Judy (Thomas); his son, Clarke (Brenda); grandsons, Clarke Jr. and Justin Mathew; his granddaughter, Tamara Louise; his great-granddaughter, Sarai Rebecca; his great-great-grandsons, David Clarke III, Jackson Justin, Daelen Mathew; his great-great-granddaughters, Zoe Elise and Scarlett Jo; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. He left each of us many cherished memories. Mr. Peele retired from the Great A & P Tea Company in 1983. After retiring, he enjoyed many relaxing peaceful days on the Chesapeake Bay and Rappahannock River. He was awarded the Purple Heart and two Oak Leaf Clusters and two Bronze Battle Stars during World War II. He served in the Battle of the Bulge and the Hurricane Forest Campaigns. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at Bliley's - Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at Dale Memorial Park. His family extends great appreciation for the professional care and many kindnesses extended to him at the McGuire Veterans Medical Center and Sitter Barfoot Virginia Veterans Care Center during the winter of his life. Particular appreciation is extended to Dr. John McGurl of the Virginia Medical Center.
