LINWOOD BAKER Obituary


BAKER, Linwood Raymond "Buddy," 82, of Elko, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 26, 2013. He was a Bronze Star and Purple Heart decorated Marine in the Korean War. Buddy retired with 25 years of service with the Henrico County Police Department. He worked as a handyman and builder in his retirement. Buddy is survived by his loving wife of eight years, Elizabeth Baker; children, Curt Baker, Bonnie Leffingwell (Jay), Terry Abbott (Charlie) and Linda Sweeney (Ahmad); stepchildren, Sebrina and Oswaldo Alfonso; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, brother, Bobby; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Buddy was preceded in death by his mother and father, Margaret and Raymond Baker; brother, Sonny Baker; and loving wife of 44 years, Gladys "Micky" Baker. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 29, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park, Sandston, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Henrico Fraternal Order of Police, P.O. Box 1157, Glen Allen, Va. 23060, or Bon Secours Hospice, 8580 Magellan Pkwy., Richmond, Va. 23227.
