Patricia Barry, a veteran soap opera actress, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at her home in Los Angeles, according to multiple news sources. She was 93.

The veteran actress had a lengthy career on screen and stage, amassing over 100 film, TV, and theater credits. Barry appeared on the soap operas “Days of Our Lives,” “All My Children,” and “Guiding Light.”

Born Patricia White Nov. 16, 1922, in Davenport, Iowa, she studied acting at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, and later under Sanford Meisner in New York City. After appearing on Broadway, she won a Rita Hayworth look-alike contest and signed a contract with Warner Bros.

She began her film career in 1946, often appearing in small uncredited roles or under her maiden name. She married her husband, TV producer Philip Barry, in 1950.

She appeared in dozens of films, including the Rock Hudson, Doris Day film “Send Me No Flowers.” On television, she had roles on “The Twilight Zone,” “Perry Mason,” and “Gunsmoke,” among many others.

From 1971 to 1974, she played Addie Horton Williams on “Days of Our Lives.” She found further success on daytime television playing Peg English on “All My Children” from 1980 to 1981. She followed that up as Miss Sally Gleason on “Guiding Light” from 1984 to 1987.

She was a charter member of Women in Film, a nonprofit organization that advocates for women in media.

Barry was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Barry. She is survived by her two daughters, Miranda Berry and Stephanie Barry Agnew, and two grandchildren.
