Donald J. "Bud" Ficek Obituary


DONALD J. FICEK Donald J. "Bud" Ficek, 76, of Hooksett and formerly of Auburn, died July 2, 2013 at his home. Mr. Ficek was born May 31, 1937 in Manchester, the son of Joseph and Elaine (Trayer) Ficek. He attended local schools and graduated from the NH Technical Institute. He owned Ficek Corporation, a heavy equipment general contractor, F&Z Construction and Corinthian Pools. Bud loved his lakefront house on Lake Massebesic and was active in the Teamsters and volunteered for Special Olympics. He raced cars and motorcycles, was an avid Nascar enthusiast and was involved with local stock car racing. He loved his own custom street rod. Bud was a 40 year member of the Deerhead Sports Club and a member of the NH National Guard. He was a great dad and grandfather. He was very active in his granddaughter, Alexys' life. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward Ficek and a sister Joan Gorey. Members of his family include a son: Donald J. Ficek of Hampton, a daughter: Robyn L. Ficek, a granddaughter: Alexys, a brother: Richard Ficek of Bradford, 3 sisters: Andrea Long of Auburn, Donna Cote of Tilton, Debbie Heymans of Auburn, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Durning, Bykowski & Young Funeral Home, 285 Manchester St., corner of Beech St., Manchester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Manchester Animal Shelter, 490 Dunbarton Rd., Manchester, NH 03102.
