FURMAN, Josephine Epps, departed this life on December 2, 2012. During her 36 years with Richmond Public Schools, she was an elementary school teacher, curriculum specialist, and then an assistant principal. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband of 65 years, J. Livingston Furman; two daughters, Olwin Burke (Robert) and Kathie Teasley (Eugene); seven grandchildren, Sonia Smith (Rodney), Robert Burke III (Mary Rose), Kwan Burke (Ellie), Marcus Burke, Michael Teasley, Jay Teasley (Jeanette) and Mark Teasley; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Melba Epps and Esteletta Epps; several nieces, nephews; longtime friend and caregiver, Pauline Gordon; many other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J., Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., Richmond, Va. 23223, where the family will receive friends Wednesday, December 5, 2012, 6 to 8 p.m. AKA memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., James River Valley Links memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Fourth Baptist Church, 2800 P St. Rev. Emory Berry Jr., pastor, officiating. Entombment Forest Lawn Mausoleum. Remains will lie in state one hour prior to service.
