LOUISE GRAHAM JOHNSON Obituary


Mrs. Louise Graham Johnson WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Mrs. Louise Graham Johnson, resident of Winston-Salem, passed away on July 13th, 2013. She was born August 15th, 1913, in Indiantown, South Carolina to George James Graham and Margaret Estelle Graham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Gilmore Johnson, Sr. and her sister, Hessie Estelle Graham. She is survived by her son, Fred Gilmore Johnson, Jr. and wife Susie of Winston-Salem, NC; three grandchildren; Hollie Elizabeth Torrey and husband, Matthew of Spring Lake, NC; Fred Gilmore Johnson III and wife Diana of Winston-Salem, NC; and Megan Louise Johnson of Winston-Salem, NC; and two great grandchildren; Samuel Holden Torrey and Emma Grace Torrey of Spring Lake, NC. Louise attended Queens College in Charlotte, NC, and later was a school teacher for many years in Indiantown, Marion, Centenary and Mullins, SC. She was a life long member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed her grandchildren after retirement and was referred to as the "wise one" because she was always there to offer practical advice and guidance. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to all those who faithfully attended her at Brighton Gardens, Oak Forest Rehabilitation & Health Center and Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Winston-Salem, NC. A family graveside service will be held at Indian Town Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Indiantown, SC, on Thursday July, 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Winston-Salem, NC or Indian Town Presbyterian Church.
