"April 15, 2014
I first met Dodge at the New York National Boat Show on January 2, 1987 when we were awarded The Cruising World Medal for Outstanding Seamanship - Dodge for his Circumnavigation and I for a Subarctic Sailing Expedition.
The U.S.A. lost a genuine true-blue American.
“May Your Big Jib Draw”… Rest in peace Captain.
Our condolences to Dodge's family.

"Just read Mr. Morgan's book about his solo circumnavigation and I admire the man more than ever. What a remarkable man who was able to master 5 months of terror, boredom and beauty and describe it so masterfully.
I was fortunate to sail American Promise to Bermuda, Newport and Halifax with Midshipmen racing for the Naval Academy in 2005. After reading Mr. Morgan's book, I am even more grateful for the experience. Many thanks to a man who lived life fully."

"I was not aware of any method for saying goodbye to the finest man I ever knew. I sailed with dodge and his brother on "Stonehorse" and how many laughs we had. I met Manny and for a time dated the girl that moved into her apartment on beacon hill after she vacated it.They were married on Leap Year so I merely thought their dear children to be illegit.
Surprising Manny's mom's Garden club party by disguising ourselves as gardners. You Betcha Dodge that you will be sorely missed by me as I am sure many others.Thank God for your presence on this earth.I recall so much of you,Manny and Sherm that time does not permit. Please come back some day.Love and Respect Bruce B."
