Tammy Grimes, the actress who won a Tony Award for “The Unsinkable Molly Brown,” died Oct. 30, 2016, according to The New York Times. She was 82.

Her death was confirmed to The New York Times by Duncan MacArthur, her nephew.

Grimes starred in the 1960 comedic play “The Unsinkable Molly Brown” and won the Tony for best featured actress in a musical. Debbie Reynolds took the part of Molly Brown in the 1964 movie version.

Grimes made her stage debut in 1955 at the Neighborhood Playhouse in “Jonah and the Whale.” In 1966, she starred on television's “The Tammy Grimes Show.” The sitcom only ran for four episodes and was then canceled. That was very rare in those days of television, as most shows would be aired for a full season even if canceled.
