Carl Orlin Boyd Obituary


PLAINVILLE - Carl Orlin Boyd, 71, of Cowell Street died peacefully on February 10, 2013 in his home after two year battle with cancer. He was the husband of Patricia (Waters) Boyd.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Carl Matthew Boyd of Hunt Valley, MD and a stepson Joshua Hanley of Woonsocket, RI.

Born February 17, 1941 in Paducah, KY, he was the son of the late Garvis and Irene (Stalions) Boyd. he was raised in New Smyrna Beach, FL and graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School, attended the University of Florida, Gainesville and was a Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity member.

He was a U.S. Air Force and Vietnam War Veteran. Carl trained as an electrical power production specialist and was stationed for a year in Cape Romanzof Air Force Base, Alaska as part of a missile combat crew. After completing his four year tour of duty Carl served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves for another two years.

Carl was retired from Xerox Corporation after 31 years as a senior service specialist. He owned and operated his electrical business, All Phase Electric, for several years before recently retiring.

Carl enjoyed working on vintage muscle cars, attending car shows and was skilled in carpentry and homebuilding. He always had his banjo nearby.

Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Services will be held privately.
