Lillian K. Drexler died peacefully at her home in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Friday, November 16, 2012, 2012.
She was born on June 24, 1923, in Bellevue, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Albert L. Kramer and Justine McCune Kramer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Drexler. She is survived by her son, Paul and his wife, Bonnie, and their children, David and Molly; daughters, Julie Drexler and Nancy Carey and husband, David; her brother, Richard A. Kramer; and stepdaughters, Edie Denney and Marlisa Parker, and their children. Lillian attended Lake Erie College in Painesview, Ohio, and graduated from the University of Michigan School of Nursing. The first part of her married life was spent primarily in France, Germany, Belgium and England. While abroad, she particularly enjoyed learning to speak the local languages and to cook local dishes. On moving to Charlottesville in 1973, she made many new friends who enjoyed her sharp wit, easy laughter, and kind words. Here she also had time to pursue her interests in art, reading, and golf. Family members wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to Bob, Kathryn, Melissa, Paul, and Eric for the exceptional care they gave Lillian over the past several years. Lillian requested that friends and family remember her individually rather than at a formal memorial gathering.
