Marilyn Tramontin Obituary

Marilyn Nancy Tramontin Sr. Marilyn Nancy Tramontin, 90, died peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2013, at The Colonnades with her children at her side. Nancy was born on September 4, 1922, in Racine, Wisconsin. Nancy had an unwavering belief in the goodness of people and made quick friendships with everyone she met. She was the epitome of a gentlewoman, kind in spirit, generous to a fault, and always ready with a smile. Nancy loved gardening, travel, the arts, and all things concerning her children. She was a true believer in democratic principles and equal rights and brought her children up believing in the same things. She had a life well-lived. In 1948, Nancy married George Tramontin and upon completion of his studies at the University of Michigan, moved to Pontiac, MI. Nancy worked at J.I. Case in Racine and as assistant to the Superintendent of Brighton Schools in Rochester, NY. In Charlottesville, she worked at the Nature Conservancy and Williamson & Toscano Law Firm. Nancy and George lived in Charlottesville from 1960 until 1966, returning in 1980 to live the remainder of their days together in a town they loved. George predeceased her in 2007. Nancy is survived by her children, Mark Tramontin, Cort Tramontin and Jerret Engle, Nancy Tramontin and David Toscano; and her beloved grandson, Matthew Toscano, who knew her as "Nonny." Please join the family for a gathering in remembrance of Nancy Sr. at the home of Nancy Tramontin and David Toscano, 628 Evergreen Avenue, on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, from 4 until 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Pkwy., Charlottesville, VA 22911, Special thanks are extended to the wonderful staff of The Colonnades; Hospice of the Piedmont, and special friend, June Wimer, for all their care and concern for Nancy and her family.
