Arden B. "Art" Swanson Obituary

Swanson, Arden B. "Art" age 75 of Chaska, formerly of Minnetonka and Excelsior, passed away 9-21-2013 after suffering a massive cardiac episode. He was born and raised in St. Paul and after graduating from Johnson High School, spent two years in the US Army. He returned to attend the University of Wisconsin, River Falls, and later received his BS from the University of Minnesota School of Business. Art began his career at Control Data Corp, was employed by MTS Systems and later by Business Incentives in IT serving as its VP before retiring in 2002. Preceded in death by his parents, Jonas and Esther Swanson. Survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Caren; daughter, Jenna (Paul) Friese of Wasilla, AK; son, Erik (Crystal) Swanson also of Wasilla; and daughter, Taeya Spencer of Frankfort, IL; grandchildren, Adam and Matthew Friese, Nolan, Bryn and Ian Spencer, sister, Joyce Dahlberg, his loved and treasured nephews and niece and his special loving buddy Charlie - Dog. Art was a very beloved "man among men", whose absence will greatly sadden those left behind to mourn his passing. Visitation 5-7 PM Thursday, September 26th, at Huber Funeral Home, 520 2nd Street, Excelsior and one hour prior to the service at the church Funeral service 11 AM Friday at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 301 County Road 19, Excelsior. Private family interment. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the Village Animal Hospital, 17660 Hwy 7, Minnetonka, 55345. A fund to assist seniors with pet expenses.
