Mayer, Bruce Age 58, of Chanhassen, MN, died peacefully at home on March 22, 2013 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born October 24, 1954 to Jeanne and Al Mayer, Bruce grew up in Minnetonka with his two brothers, Rick and Rob. He graduated from Hopkins High School and pursued a career in machine design. In 1975, he married Julie, the love of his life and his devoted wife of 37 years. In 1992, they joyfully welcomed their son Peter in whom Bruce took great pride. Bruce met the challenges of his sudden illness with a faith, optimism, and courage which deeply inspired everyone whose life he touched. His legacy of grace and gratitude will continue to guide those he leaves behind. Grateful to have shared his life, Bruce will be deeply missed and always remembered by his family: his wife, Julie, and their son, Peter; parents, Jeanne and Al; brother, Rick (Richard); brother, Rob; father-in-law, Bob; sister-in-law, Becky; niece, Jennifer (Cris); nephew, Tim; brother- in-law, Tom (Mindy); niece, Katie (Chris); nephew, Rob; sister-in-law, Mary (Dan); niece, Annie (David); sister-in-law, Nancy (Del); nephew, Brian (Ashley); niece, Elizabeth; brother-in-law, George; and his wonderful grand nieces and nephews and many friends. Bruce was greeted in heaven by: his grandparents, Rosa and Frank, Anna and Eugene; and his mother-in-law, Doris. The family wishes to thank the medical teams at Methodist Hospital, Methodist Hospice, and the University of Minnesota for their superb care and compassion. Special thanks also go to Bruce's "work family" at Perbix. Your unfailing support meant the world to him. A visitation (10 am), funeral mass (11 am), and lunch (following mass) will be held on March 27, 2013 at St. Victoria Catholic Church, 8228 Victoria Drive, Victoria MN 55386.
