Mitchell, Gerald ("Jerry") William 76, of Min- netonka, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 13, 2013 at Methodist Hospital Hopkins MN, after a prolonged illness. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife Patricia ("Patty"). Jerry is also survived by Mark, Michelle (Jon) Levine, Monica (Craig) Bongart and Michael (Amy) Mitchell. He is known as "Papa Mitch" to his 10 loving and beloved grandchildren, Jessica, Spenser, Emily, Rachel, Jeremy, George, Jacqueline, Juliet, Ben and Luke. He is preceded in death by parents, Bill and Anne; brother, Russell; sisters, Lois Rinke and Gloria Johnson; and survived by two sisters, Mavis Askland and Janis Kelly. Jerry was born in Fargo, ND, on April 30, 1937 and grew up on a dairy farm in Glyndon, MN. He met his soul mate Patty who he married in Moorhead, MN, in 1960. Their love affair spanned more than fifty years during which they raised a family, traveled the world, hiked, biked, skied and golfed, particularly at their most treasured spot, Spearfish Canyon, SD. He graduated from Glyndon High School and the University of Minnesota. He was a lifelong Gopher and Vikings fan. With a career ranging over thirty years, first as a chemist, he rose to several executive positions in the rubber and plastics industry and founded Infinity Consulting Service in 1994. He participated in and held leadership positions in many organizations, including President the St. Louis Park Rotary, Minnesota Speedskating Association and the Twin Cities Rubber Group. He received lifetime achievement awards and sat on a number of boards including the Hospital Board, Watertown Vocational School and the South Dakota Industrial Association. He enjoyed life, watching and playing all kinds of sports and boating with his wife, family and friends. He fulfilled a life dream to play a number of the world's greatest golf courses, including St. Andrews in Scotland. Jerry was known as "Mitch" in business and to his many friends. Jerry was always there to help friends and family with his strong and loving hands. Above all in life, Jerry enjoyed and loved his family. His family is truly blessed to have this kind, decent and giving soul supporting and loving them. We will dearly miss him. His legacy of love endures in our hearts and minds forever. The visitation and the celebration service will be at Wayzata Community Church, on Saturday, July 20, 2013, located at 125 E. Wayzata Boulevard East, Wayzata, Minnesota 55391. Visitation will be from 10 AM to 11 AM, followed by the service at 11 AM. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
