Klossner, Herbert O. Age 88, formerly of Edina and Bloomington. Herbert Oswald Klossner, B-24 Navigator, war hero and Ex-POW, intrepid traveler, wonderful husband and family man, died on March 4, 2013 at the VA Hospital in San Diego. Herb was born in Rice Lake, WI. A member of the Greatest Generation, he attended the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1949 with a degree in civil engineering. He had a long career of public service and retired in 1988 from Hennepin County as the Director of Transportation. He then travelled throughout the US, Canada and Mexico in an RV. Preceded in death by father Ernst, mother Emma, brothers Jacob, Ernest, Herman, and Gottfred (Fred), sisters Louise, Pauline and Marie and wife Janie. Survived by sons David and Paul Klossner, wife Barrie Olson Klossner, son Mark Olson, daughters Ann Eidson and Amy Sondrup, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Herb will be interred at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, Friday, April 26th, 2013, at 11:00 AM.
