Brantingham, Robert Wright Born: 3-11-1937, Salem, Ohio; died 4-11-2013, Minneapolis, MN. Preceded in death by parents, Paul and Jeanne Wright Brantingham and brother, David Brantingham. Survived by wife, Nancy Lloyd Brantingham; children: Eric Brantingham (Cheryl), Springboro, OH; Hilary Brantingham Clark, Rochester, MN; and Jeremy Brantingham, Minneapolis; grandchildren: Derek and Sean Brantingham and Hayden Clark; brothers: John Brantingham, Burlington, Washington; James Brantingham, Adrian, MI, Benjamin Brantingham, Portland, OR; Samuel Brantingham, Martinsville, VA; sister, Paula Brantingham McClure, Floyd, VA; step-mother: Ellen Haas Brantingham, Martinsville, VA. 1963: Bachelors of Architecture from the Ohio State University School of Architecture; 1966 Masters in City Planning, University of Minnesota. Ass't University Planner 1966-1970, when he began private practice. Bob loved rehabilitating old buildings, and was a world expert on reuse of grain silos. He was the architect for Calhoun Isles Condominiums in which silos were converted to housing. Other projects included remodeling of the Calhoun Beach Club and the exterior design of the CBC addition. Worked for years on the Ivy Tower building in Minneapolis, and acted as exterior architect on for the Ivy Hotel and Condominiums which opened in 2008. The essential part of Bob's life was not his career, or family, but his faith in Jesus Christ. He was a birthright Quaker, and took to heart the statement of George Fox, founder of the Society of Friends in the 17th Century: "I travel about the world looking for that of God in others, and letting that of God in others answer to that of God in me." He taught Sunday School at Park Avenue United Methodist Church for 35 years. One of his favorite quotes was from Art Buchwald: "The world is divided among three kinds of people, lawn mowers, life enhancers, and well poisoners." Bob was a life enhancer. Visitation: 4-26-13 from 4-7 pm and 4-27-13 from 10-11 am @ Park Avenue United Methodist Church, 3400 Park Ave., Minneapolis; Funeral 4-27 at 11:00 am @ the church. Memorials preferred to the Gideons International.
