Cindy Lou NEUSCHWANDER Obituary

NEUSCHWANDER, Cindy Lou, age 60, of Richmond, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012. She was preceded in death by her father, Al Neuschwander. She is survived by her loving husband, Jay Barrows; and three sons, Casey Barrows and his wife, Angie, Dylan Barrows and Bryce Barrows; two beautiful grandchildren, River and Jazmine; She is also survived by her mother, Gloria and her partner, Jim; brothers, Alan Neuschwander and his wife, Lana, Jon Neuschwander and his partner, Kim; nephew, Derek Neuschwander and his daughter, Ashley. She died of ovarian cancer that was first diagnosed in July 2007. Cindy was from Bedford, Texas. She graduated from University of Texas and received MFA of Photography from Virginia Commonwealth University. Cindy was many things to many people. She was an amazing friend, a "crazy" in love wife, the kind of stepmom every child would want, and grandmother (affectionately called Nana Lou) extraordinaire. She cared deeply, loved deeply and was very passionate about art, travel, books, and life in general, with a smile that could light up a room and a spirit to match. Cindy was an artist. Her drawings and paintings were about mark making, layering, texture and color. The work was always intuitive and absolutely reflected who she truly was. The number of people that Cindy connected with and touched is far reaching. Her life had meaning and therefore inspired others to look for depth in their own lives. This inspiration will continue long after her passing. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: 1708 Gallery (319 W. Broad Street, Richmond, Va. 23220), Art 180 (O E. 4th Street, Studio 1, Richmond, Va. 23224), National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (2501 Oak Lawn Ave., Suite 435. Dallas, Texas 75219) and Hospice of Virginia (1700 Bayberry Ct., Richmond, Va. 23226).
