ALISON ABBITT Obituary


ABBITT, Alison Lawton Cross, 57, of Richmond, passed away unexpectedly on June 28, 2012. Our sweet and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband, Andrew White Abbitt; daughters, Carter Lawton Abbitt and Elizabeth Abbitt Stary and husband, Michael; her parents, Robert Swift and Barbara Forloine Cross; brother Robert Stafford Cross; and sister Robin Cross Ritter and husband, Todd. She is also survived by three grandchildren, William, Olivia, and Jacob; 11 sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and 12 nieces and nephews. She was a 1979 School of Communications graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and an active member of First Baptist Church, Richmond. She was a 32-year employee of ChildFund, for which she traveled and worked in many capacities. Alison loved family and friends, entertaining, gardening, photography, writing, the beach and the river. After private interment in Hollywood Cemetery, her memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 3 at First Baptist Church, Richmond, with a reception following at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to First Baptist Church, 2709 Monument Avenue, Richmond, Va. 23220.
