Lloyd R. Brazelton Obituary



Lloyd R. Brazelton, age 88, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013, at Primrose.

Lloyd was born in Council Bluffs, on June 2, 1925, and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944-1946 and worked for the US Postal Service for 35 years as their Window Clerk.

Lloyd and Dolores Skelton were married on June 11, 1949. Lloyd was a longtime member of Grace and New Horizon Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon and Elder. His memberships include the American Legion, Council Bluffs Cosmopolitan Club, and longtime volunteer for Jennie Edmundson, Iowa Western and Habitat for Humanity.

We will remember Lloyd for his kindness to others, and his love for his wife, children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Dicks; stepfather, Roscoe; and his mother, Hazel Brazelton.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Dolores; daughters, Sheila (Tom) Zimmerman, all of Council Bluffs, Barbara Brown (Rodney Doc Butler), of Haughton, La., Julie (Ruben) Garcia, of Northbrook, Ill.; and son, David (Liza) Brazelton, of Coon Rapids, Minn.; and 9 grandchildren.

Visitation with family Thursday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral services Friday, 11 a.m., at New Horizon Presbyterian Church with a luncheon to follow immediately at the church hall. Interment Cedar Lawn Cemetery with military rites at the grave. Family suggest memorials to New Horizon Church and Habitat for Humanity.
