DUNNAVANT, Glada Jarvis, 88, of Victoria, Virginia died February 17, 2013. She was born February 6, 1925, daughter of the late Walter Thurman Jarvis and Lillian Mae McLaughlin Jarvis. She was widow of Shirley Brydie Dunnavant; and mother of the late Forrest B. Dunnavant, Mark Dunnavant and Nancy D. Provo. She is survived by her son, Reggie Jarvis Dunnavant of Victoria; two grandchildren, R. Forrest Dunnavant (Amy) of Vermont and E. Lee Dunnavant of Victoria; one great-granddaughter, Macy Beth Dunnavant. Glada graduated from Victoria High School and later from James Madison University and was a member of the Tri Sigma Sorority. She was a retired teacher, having taught Kindergarten, first, second and fourth grades. She was a member and former chaplain of VFW Ladies Auxiliary number 9954 in Victoria. Glada volunteered for over 25 years and was an honorary member of Community Memorial Health Center Volunteers. She was a life-long member of Victoria Baptist Church, where she served as choir director for over 35 years, was a member of the Fidelis Sunday school class and a faithful supporter of Victoria Baptist Church Women's Missionary Union. The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Staples Funeral Home, Victoria. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Victoria Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the Victoria Baptist Church.
