George A. Vlatas Obituary


GEORGE A. VLATAS George A. Vlatas, 75, of Hudson, died March 22, 2013 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Manchester. Mr. Vlatas was born May 27, 1937 in Phildelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Antonio and Meropi (Diomataris) Vlatas. He attended local schools there and Drexel Institute of Technology where he earned a BS in Civil Engineering. He served in the military with the Army Corps of Engineers as a 2nd lieutenant. He worked as a civil engineer in Kuwait, Egypt and Jordan. He was a member of the VFW and the Masonic Lodge. George loved his family, especially cooking for them. He enjoyed traveling and gardening. Members of his family include his wife of 53 years, Cynthia (Savas) Vlatas of Hudson, a son: Anthony and his wife Diane of Brookline, 2 daughters: Teresa and her husband Charles Paquin of Litchfield, Diane Meyer of Colorado Springs, CO., 8 grandchildren, a brother: Jim Vlatas of Virginia and several nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours and services are private. Burial will be in the NH State Veterans Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the VA Community Living Center, 718 Smyth Rd, Manchester, NH 03104. Durning, Bykowski & Young Funeral Home, 285 Manchester St., Manchester, is assisting the family with arrangements.
