Myrl D. Harrison, age 85, of Council Bluffs, passed away October 12, 2013, at Regency Rehabilitation Center.
Myrl was born June 5, 1928, in Tabor, Iowa, to the late Frank and Eva (Patterson) Harrison. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Myrl married Joan McSorley on May 7, 1950. They were blessed with a son, Steve.
Myrl was an engineer at Omaha Cold Storage for 40 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of East Side Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, Myrl was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Harrison in 2011.
Myrl is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kathleen Harrison, of Onawa, Iowa; grandchildren, Craig and Sonya; 3 great grandchildren; and sister, Myrna Pitzer, of Kansas City, Missouri.
Visitation with the family Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service Thursday, 1 p.m., at the funeral home with Reverend Jon Haizlip officiating. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites tendered by the VFW Post #737. A lunch will follow at East Side Christian Church. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of SWI.
