Vietnam War Memorial Site: Notable Deaths & Obituaries

From 1955 to 1975, more than 3 million Americans fought in the Vietnam War. Nearly 60,000 American combatants were killed, and more than 150,000 wounded. While we tend to associate Vietnam with the draft, two-thirds of those who served in the conflict did so voluntarily. This memorial site was created to honor and remember all who served in Vietnam.

Charles Haywood LUMBERTON — Mr. Charles Haywood, 71, of 945 Timber Oak Drive, was born July 28, 1944, to the late Jessie Evander and Addie Lee Haywood. He died on July 28, 2015, at Southeastern Medical Center. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pentecostal Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery Laurinburg.
