Harry Sheridan Smith Harry Sheridan Smith, 60, of Altavista, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012 after a 16 month battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Fred and Alvie Smith and he served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. He worked for over 20 years with B & W as a machinist. Harry was full of life and loved motorcycles, NASCAR, and his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ashford D. Smith, Sr. and a nephew, Ricky G. Smith. He is survived by his wife, Dolores "Dee" Smith; son, Scotty Smith (Olivia); two daughters, Kimberly Pitman and Christy Pitman; three granddaughters, Jordan Smith, Courtney Ridgeway, and Abigail Kershner; siblings; Gloria Couts (Charles) of Vinton, Harold Smith (Gayle) of Rockhill, SC, Fred "Bill" Smith (Shirley) of Thaxton, Barry Smith (Judy) of Vinton, and Russell Smith (Vicki) of Goode; special niece, Teresa Muse (Twain) of Troutville; special friends, Eddie Matthews (Debbie) of Henderson, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Jordantown Wesleyan Church, 5812 Jordantown Rd, Vinton, VA 24179. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 12 pm until time of service. Interment will follow at Jordantown Memorial Gardens.
