LARRY GOINS Obituary


GOINS, Mr. Larry W., 64, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 at Memorial Regional Medical Center. He was born January 18, 1949 in Mt. Airy, N.C. and graduated from Ragsdale High School in Greensboro, N.C. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and retired from Via Systems in Henrico County, Va. He was a member of American Legion Post 144 Battlefields of Sandston, Va. Larry was an avid Miami Dolphins and New York Yankees fan and enjoyed to travel with his family and friends to fish at Hatteras. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Otto Goins; and mother, Ida Nelson Goins; and three brothers, Luther Goins, Warren Goins and Paul Goins Sr. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Walker Goins; two sons, Larry Wayne Goins Jr. and Brandon Jessup Goins and his wife, Patricia; two granddaughters, Lauren Ashley and Jessica Anne; a stepson, Jason Copeland and his wife, Sunny; three grandchildren, Justin, Ryker and Jenna; a sister, Polly Ann Goins Henley (Junior); and a brother, Bobby Goins (Paulette). A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, Va. 23140, with burial following in New Kent Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Charles City Rescue Squad, 7100 Adkins Rd., Charles City, Va. 23030, or to the New Kent Chapel Memorial Association, P.O. Box 404, Providence Forge, Va. 23140.
