ROLAND THOMPSON Obituary


THOMPSON, Roland E. "Butch" "BT,", 65, of Sandston, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Marie Thompson; grandson, Andrew "Drew" Thompson; sister, Patsy Taylor; and brother, Steve Thompson. Butch worked at Chesterfield Auto Parts, where he was the general manager for 41 years. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. Butch served our country in the Vietnam War for the United States Navy. He loved his family dearly, as well as his family at Chesterfield Auto Parts. He also loved to go fishing with his brother. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jean "Nanny" Thompson; sons, Rick (Tracie), Ken "Bubba," and Sean (Amy); grandchildren, Chrissy, Kimberly, Kenny Jr., Drew, Todd and Caity; great-grandson, Logan; brother, David "Hank" (Patsy); and many other family members and friends. A visitation will be held Friday, July 12, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, July 13, from 2 to 6 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 6 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105. The family would like to send a special thanks to the Webber family, as well as Dr. Abhishek and Jana.
