CUBBON, Archie Hillsman, age 93, passed away August 23, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Pruitt Cubbon; daughters, Lynda Larsen and husband, William, Elaine Dewey, Robin Cubbon and partner, Laurie Lambing, and Cathy Hunt and husband, Greg; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Archie served as a major in the United States Army, his service including World War II and Korea. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Prior to his retirement, Archie was a supervisory management analyst with the Department of Labor and with the Management Analysis Division at Fort Lee. During his civilian service he served as co-chairman with the commanding general of Fort Lee for the Combined Federal Campaign and was cited for his superior performance. He was an avid golfer, called "The Pro" by his playing partners. During Archie's prep school years at Fork Union Military Academy, he was Captain Adjutant of the Cadet Corps. He enjoyed sports and was on the boxing and tennis teams. An expert marksman, Archie won all of his matches. At Archie's request, there will be no funeral; however, a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Colonial Heights Rescue Squad at 100-B Highland Ave., Colonial Heights, Va. 23834. The Cremation Society of Virginia is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at 12401 Gayton Rd., Apt. 427, Richmond, Va. 23238.
