Austin Archdall BUTTEMER Obituary

March 15, 1926 - April 22, 2013

Passed away peacefully with family at his side at St. Joseph's Hospital, Comox.
Born in East Angus, Quebec, Austin served as a teen in the Canadian Army Signal Corps. during WW2, seeing service in England. After his honourable discharge at age 17, his adventures led him to Toronto, where he met and married Mary, his partner in marriage for 63 years. In the late 1950s Austin returned to school, and obtained his BASc and P Eng at the University of Toronto. After a full career as an engineer and computer scientist, he and May retired to the Comox Valley in 1988.
Predeceased by son Paul (2008), he will be sadly missed by his wife Mary, daughter Anita (Michael), daughter-in-law Amalia Schelhorn, and grandchildren Evan, Gwendolyn, Tessa, Clara, Trevor, Ian and Emily.
Many thanks to the nurses at St. Joe's for making Austin's final days comfortable, and to the service providers at We Care, whose patience and compassion know no bounds.
A Celebration of Life Poppy Service will take place at 11 am, Saturday April 27th at the D'Esterre Room, Comox Valley Senior's Centre, 1801 Beaufort Ave., Comox.
