Herman Eugene Cave Obituary


Herman Eugene Cave Herman Eugene Cave, 86, of Occoquan, Virginia, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013, following a brief illness. He was born in Leon, Virginia, on April 9, 1926, the son of the late Albert S. Cave and Ethel B. Cave. He was also predeceased by one brother, Edgar V. Cave in 1988; and by his wife of 57 years, Maude Jenkins Cave, in 2006. Mr. Cave is survived by two daughters, Linda Cave Buser and Alan of Woodbridge, and Janet Cave Seely and John, of Alexandria; two grandchildren, Brian S. Buser and Jennifer of Woodbridge, and Stephanie Buser Bieniek and Jon of South Carolina; and three great grandchildren, Abigail and Carly Buser and Zaine Bieniek. He is also survived by nieces, Gloria Cave Jenkins and Bobby and Mary Frances Cave Dodson and Jimmie; and nephews, Kenneth Cave and Mike Cave. From the boy who delivered ice from the back of the mail truck in Madison, played mandolin for square dances, and worked in the Culpeper locker plant, Herman Cave went on to become a World War II veteran and survivor of the battle for Iwo Jima. He retired from the Lorton Workhouse in 1976, and spent his time working on Volkswagens, researching genealogy, and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013, at Etlan United Methodist Church conducted by the Reverend Ted Kitchens with interment at Etlan Cemetery. The family will receive friends frorm 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
