BARLOW, John I., 91, of Sandston, passed into eternal life with the Lord on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Suella Barlow. Mr. Barlow is survived by two sons, Donald Barlow (Lana) and John Barlow Jr. (Kim); six daughters, Patsy Jean Strohecker (Eric), Brenda Testerman (Bud), Nita Race (Darry), Linda Morissette, Tricia Foster (Todd) and Virgie Hubbard (Glen); 24 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Roy Barlow (Betty); and four sisters, Lilly Parnell (Gene), Arlena Butts, Ethel Turbeville and Betty Haynes (Robert). Mr. Barlow was a WWII veteran and a lifelong member of New Life Worship (Poplar Springs Church of God). The family will receive friends in honor and remembrance of Mr. Barlow's life from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 26, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. A funeral service will be held at the Nelsen Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 27, at 11 a.m., followed by interment at Washington Memorial Park. The family of Mr. Barlow would like to express our deepest gratitude to all those who provided daily care for our Dad.
