 CHAMPAIGN – Richard Thomas Scanlan, 81, of Champaign passed away at 1:14 a.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2009, at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1303 Lincolnshire Drive, Champaign, with Monsignor Mark Merdian officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Champaign. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2009, at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy, with a rosary service at 4:30 p.m. Mr. Scanlan was born on May 30, 1928. He was the son of Robert L. and Catherine Rockstroh Scanlan. He has been married to Donna Mary Campion of St. Paul, Minn., for 57 years. He was the proud father of one son, John (Gail) Scanlan of Lenexa, Kan.; four daughters, Susan (Matt Keeley) of Naperville, Cathy Scanlan of Chicago, Anne (Steve) Nordmark of Chicago and Meg (Scott) Bird of Overland Park, Kan.; proud grandfather of Lauren, Paige, Dan, Michael, Patrick, Erin, Spencer, Katie, Grant, Ryan, Logan and Abby.
