 RANTOUL – Celebration of life services for Pfc. Robert A. Liggett, 23, of Rantoul will be held at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm St., Champaign. The Rev. Mark Harris will officiate. Burial will be at Prairieview Cemetery, Savoy. Graveside military rites will be accorded by a U.S. Army Honors Team. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Pfc. Liggett died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, in Rustamiyah, Iraq. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division in Fort Benning, Ga. Pfc. Liggett was born April 21, 1984, the son of Dean A. Liggett and Roxanne Daughterty. He grew up in Champaign, Mahomet, Rock Island and Rantoul. He also lived briefly in Urbana before joining the Army. He is survived by his mother of Rock Island; his father of Rantoul; a sister, Elizabeth Eyer of Rantoul; and an aunt, Maggie Liggett, also of Rantoul. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, his maternal grandparents, his paternal grandmother and a maternal uncle. Pfc. Liggett was a graduate of Rock Island High School, where he was enrolled in Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps classes. He was active in the Big Brother/Big Sister Program in Champaign-Urbana. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of a bowling league in Rantoul. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to an organization of the donor's choice.
