Boykin became popular on the reality show as the best friend and bodyguard for professional skateboarder Rob Dyrdek. The show ran on MTV from 2006 until 2008.

The pair also starred on the show "Fantasy Factory."

Despite his towering 6-foot-6 frame, Boykin was known for his kind and gentle demeanor. He was featured with Dyrdek in the skateboarding video game “Skate.”

Before he became Dyrdek's bodyguard, Boykin served in the U.S. Navy. He also started his own clothing line in 2007.

He is survived by his 9-year-old daughter, Isis.

Dyrdek mourned the loss of his friend on social media:

"My heart is broken. I don't want to write this post. I don't want to believe that this is reality. I am so thankful for you."We truly were brothers that lived an unexpected unforgettable adventure," he continued. "I just can't fathom that it would end so suddenly. You will forever be in my heart."
