Lee Reherman (1966 - 2016)

Lee Reherman, the actor who played Hawk on the television series "American Gladiators," died Monday. He was 49.

Reherman's representative told the website TMZ that the actor's girlfriend found him in their home in California's Manhattan Beach Tuesday morning. According to the publicist, Reherman had not been feeling well within the last week. He had undergone hip replacement surgery a few weeks ago.

Reherman was a star offensive lineman for Cornell University. He tried out for the NFL with the Miami Dolphins, but the team cut him during training camp. He then moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.

His first big role came in 1993 when he joined the reality competition series "American Gladiators." He played Hawk on the show that would match up regular people against the cast of athletes. He remained on the show until it ended in 1996.

He recently appeared on the TV show "Jane the Virgin" and "Cooper Barret's Guide to Life" on Fox. He also had guest-star roles on "The X-Files" and "Gilmore Girls." He also had been the host of Speed Network’s "Hot Rod TV."
